Getting started
What is RigMap?
A truck GPS app for professional drivers and fleets in the United States and Canada. It runs on iPhone with iOS 18.4 or later.
How much does it cost?
RigMap is free during the beta.
How do I install it?
Install Apple's TestFlight app, open the RigMap invite link on your iPhone, open RigMap, enter your team access code, allow location, and set your truck profile. Full steps: Get the app.
Where do I get an access code?
From your fleet or the RigMap team. If you don't have one, contact us.
Truck profile & hazmat
What goes into my truck profile?
Height, width, length, gross weight, axle weight and axle count, in feet and pounds or metres and tonnes. Every route is calculated for these numbers.
Can I save my profile on the website?
Yes. With a RigMap account (Google or email) you can save truck and hazmat profiles on your account page. Profiles are private to you.
How does hazmat routing work?
Choose the load classes you carry, 1 to 9, for the trip. RigMap avoids roads and tunnels closed to hazardous materials. Always follow posted signs and your permits.
Routes & options
Which route modes are there?
RigMap IQ ranks routes by highway share, traffic signals and terrain. Fastest, Shortest, Fewer Hills (flatter alternatives for loaded rigs), Truck Comfort (designated truck routes, fewer turns and signals, avoids residential streets), Easy Turns, Paved Only and No Highway.
What can I avoid?
Tolls (all toll roads in the US and Canada), Canada Tolls (only Canadian toll roads such as the 407 ETR and the Quebec and Nova Scotia toll bridges; US tolls still allowed), Ferries, Tunnels and Residential streets.
Which restrictions does RigMap avoid?
Posted height, weight, width, length and axle restrictions and no-truck roads. Time-limited truck bans are shown with their hours.
How many routes do I get?
Up to three alternatives, each with time, distance, tolls and ferries. You can add stops; they stay in order along the trip.
Does RigMap take me to the truck gate?
At known facilities, yes: RigMap routes to the truck entrance.
A road is closed to trucks but RigMap used it.
Mark the road as no-truck from the map or the report sheet. RigMap routes around it next time. Please also tell us where it was so we can fix the data.
What is Route X-Ray?
Every route gets a truck safety score from 0 to 100 with the reasons behind it: steep grades, low clearances, restrictions and cameras. RigMap IQ can answer questions about a route and weigh a detour against a traffic delay, but it can never override a truck-safety block.
On the road
What does the navigation screen show?
Turn-by-turn with lane guidance, an illustrated junction view at complex interchanges, your speed next to the posted (or truck) limit, voice instructions and voice commands.
Why did the speed card turn red?
You're over the posted limit. RigMap also gives a heads-up before a lower limit.
How do I see what's coming up?
Slide the bottom sheet up for the upcoming list: steps, stops, cameras, weigh scales, weather, curves and hills, with distances.
How do low-bridge warnings work?
Low-clearance bridges are called out ahead. Restriction signs on the map are coloured against your truck: green fits, amber is tight, red doesn't fit. Records can be out of date, so always check the posted sign.
How do I end navigation?
Tap the red ✕ on the right side of the map.
Does RigMap show weather and traffic?
Weather is forecast for each point of the route at the time you'll get there, with crosswind, ice, low visibility and heavy rain or snow flagged. Live traffic colours show on the route line where traffic data is available. Construction, closures and incidents come from state and provincial 511/DOT feeds.
Stops, parking & scales
What places are on the map?
Truck stops, travel centres, cardlocks, rest areas, truck parking, repair and truck washes, with brand logos on the pins.
How do I report parking, a scale or a diesel price?
Tap the place on the map and use the report buttons on its card: parking (Many, Few, Full), weigh station open or closed, diesel price and rating. Reports are anonymous.
Cameras & borders
Where do the cameras come from?
From state and provincial transportation agencies, along your route and in the Live tab, with live video where the agency provides it.
Does RigMap show border wait times?
Yes. US–Canada crossings show truck and car waits into the USA and into Canada where they're published. Commercial lanes are used where crossings separate them, and you can pick the crossing.
Account & privacy
Do I need an account?
No. The app works with your team access code. A website account adds saved truck and hazmat profiles and the RigMap Assistant.
How do I delete my account?
On your account page, use Delete account. Your profiles are deleted with it.
What does RigMap do with my data?
No ads, no selling data and no analytics trackers in the app. Location is used for the map, routing and navigation. Read the full Privacy Policy.
